In response to the shorter days and increased hours of darkness, interior styling is moving in a decidedly darker direction for autumn.
Back in spring, we saw the Romance trend rise to prominence, and for autumn, we can see that look evolving into this season’s dark floral print story, “Midnight Garden”.
Pastel shades are replaced by deeper, richer hues. Where before there was bright whites and blushes, there is now ashy charcoals, jewelled tones and moody prune.
The look holds on to the same modern, oversized blooms, but is set against a dark backdrop. Deep colours really underpin this look. A saturated colour palette of prune, indigo, teal and charcoal set the tone of a night-time garden scene.
In the foreground, a contemporary pattern of interwoven florals and foliage play. The oversized scale of these blooms has an unrealistic, dream-like quality, and while the look still feels feminine and romantic, there’s something haunting, yet beautiful about it.
