Relax, regenerate and refresh with Greenery, Pantone's Colour of the Year for 2017.
After months of tracking social trends, art, fashion, culture and events, the team at Pantone Colour Institute have ear-marked Greenery as the colour we can expect to see everywhere next year.
In an interview with the New York Times, Pantone's executive director, Leatrice Eiseman said the choice was made in response to our stressful and tense world.
"This is the colour of hopefulness, and of our connection to nature," she said. "It speaks to what we call the 're' words: regenerate, refresh, revitalise, renew."
Its lushness conjures thoughts of the great outdoors: of flourishing rain forests, robust and untamed gardens, inner-city parks and rooftop green spaces. The colour of the year is also a reminder to take a deep breath, step back from technology and reconnect with the natural world around us.
Greenery is nature's neutral colour. In home decor, it brings the raw energy and freshness of the outdoors inside our rooms, and breathes life into tired interior schemes.
Pantone describes Greenery as a versatile trans-seasonal shade that works with various colour combinations, including neutrals, brights, deep shades and pastels. We look forward to seeing this fresh, bold colour embraced in home decorating.
