Throughout the month of June, Lorraine Lea Independent Stylists, hosts and guests partook in some selfless partying for a very worthwhile cause.
For the third year in a row we asked our Independent Stylists and party hosts to make the #pledgetoparty and hold a Party for Kids with Cancer® fundraising party or event in support of children's cancer charities, Camp Quality Australia and Camp Quality New Zealand.
Where usually hosts receive free and half priced Lorraine Lea product, during the month of June they instead have the option to convert the face-value of the product to cash and donate this amount to the Party for Kids with Cancer® fund. Stylists can donate the profits they make from their parties in the same way and party guests are encouraged to make donations or purchase the fund mascot, PJ Bear in support of the cause.
The money raised will help facilitate Camp Quality's family fun days and camps, and allow these uplifting programs to continue to be offered free-of-charge to children and their families during treatment and remission.
In the past year, we have raised more than $164,000 to assist Camp Quality's annual program, which benefits over 3,000 families living with cancer.
Camp Quality Australia Chief Executive Officer, Simon Rountree is thankful for Lorraine Lea’s philanthropy and says this type of continued financial aid is vital in the wake of the not-for-profit sector’s recent decrease in government funding.
“We’re a charity that delivers services to the public and the ability to plan our programs in advance is essential but increasingly difficult as funds vary considerably from year to year,” Mr Rountree said.
“Every Camp Quality camp costs more than $20,000 – and to continue to offer these programs we need the long-term support of our dedicated sponsors.”
“Thanks to the ongoing success of their Party for Kids with Cancer® fundraising initiative, Lorraine Lea is able to sponsor some of our core programs, while their Stylists also donate their time to come and volunteer.”
Camp Quality New Zealand chairman, Gary Troup, says Lorraine Lea’s fundraising helps to provide a range of activities throughout the year, particularly their national Summer Camp program.
“Our regional summer camps are the heart and soul of Camp Quality where we deliver a week of quality recreational programs and fun experiences to almost 300 children, backed up by 750 volunteers in a safe, stress-free and caring environment,” Mr Troup said.
“The support we get from Lorraine Lea goes a long way and is greatly appreciated.”
Lorraine Lea’s philanthropic arm, the Party for Kids with Cancer® fund, was established 15 years ago in honour of their company co-founder, who lost his battle with cancer.
Since 2000, more than $1.1 million has been raised by the fund to help improve the quality of life experienced by young people living with cancer.
