Knock-out party punch

In need of a crowd pleasing punch?

Serving a good punch at a party is one of the easiest ways to appease a thirsty crowd, plus it takes the pressure off you as the host because guests are able to help themselves to a drink. The versatile bowl (or jug) of punch can be anything from a refreshing non-alcoholic beverage on a hot day to your favourite cocktail, reproduced on a giant scale. Whether you stir it, shake it or spoon it, one of these flavourful punches is sure to be a party starter.

Fruity Champagne Punch

Ready in 10 mins (Source)

375ml (1 1/2 cups) chilled sparkling wine
375ml (1 1/2 cups) chilled lemonade
80ml (1/3 cup) chilled vodka
80ml (1/3 cup) Malibu coconut liqueur
1 lime, thinly sliced
100g frozen raspberries
125ml (1/2 cup) fresh passionfruit pulp
Ice cubes, to serve

Combine the sparkling wine, lemonade, vodka, Malibu, lime, raspberries and passionfruit in a large jug or bowl. Add the ice cubes and serve.

1 lemon, sliced, seeded
1 orange, sliced, seeded
55g (1/4 cup) caster sugar
750ml bottle red wine (Good quality red wine is crucial to good sangria, as the wine is the dominant ingredient. Try a good cabernet sauvignon, merlot, Spanish rioja or shiraz)
60ml (1/4 cup) brandy
500ml (2 cups) soda water

Place the lemon and orange slices, sugar, wine and brandy in a jug.
Stir to dissolve the sugar. Top up with the soda water and serve.

Ginger Beer and Pineapple punch

Ready in 5 mins (Source)

1 tin (850ml) unsweetened pineapple juice
1 bottle (750ml) good ginger beer (like Bundaberg)
1/2 an ice cube tray of tea ice cubes
a handful of fresh mint sprigs
fruit slices - like lime or orange
the pulp from one large passionfruit (optional)

Pour all ingredients into a jug, stir and serve immediately. Make sure each glass gets some tea ice cubes.
